I realize that many scientists out there will still debunk global warming, and I understand that it is practically in the job description (proving things are wrong has always been a heck of a lot easier than proving them right). Working with environmentalists, I falsely believed that everyone would be onboard with the belief that “climate change” is real. After speaking with a particular person I learned how very wrong I was. In fact, I am shocked that he is actually one among many whom I know personally that feel the situation is overplayed and erroneous. However, I believe most people out there are now willing to accept that without drastic action we face a disaster greater than we ever could have imagined; one that will threaten the stability and sanctity of life on this planet.
December 7th through December 18th of this year, The United Nations will be holding the fifteenth Conference of Parties (COP15) in Copenhagen. World leaders will gather in one place to debate this issue, and hopefully act on it. Now, I while I will be the first to admit that petitions are hardly the solution to our problems (and I’ve rarely been fond of them); I believe that they do send a strong message to our leaders that people do care and want something done. It is up to us…the people, to demand it and make it so. Every voice counts. I know this a particular passion of mine; you are in no way obligated to follow my footsteps. However, if you do believe in the message, I implore you to sign the petition at www.sealthedeal2009.org, and let your voice be heard.
